Are Blue Collar Supporters of Trump Missing Something?

I saw on the news June 9, 2017 that GE was closing a manufacturing plant in Waukesha, Wisconsin and moving the work to Canada. Four workers from the plant were being interviewed. As you might expect, they were very angry at GE. All 4 were Trump supporters… and still were.

During the interview, the reporter pointed out that unemployment in the town was very low. One of the ex-workers replied in what should have been a key point to him about his support for Trump, but he was blind to it. He said “Yes, there are other jobs, but none pay anywhere near as much as the 'union' GE jobs. How can you support a family on $17/hour?”.

If Trump brings any jobs back to America (highly unlikely), they will all be non-union jobs. Republicans hate unions (except for the police union) and they do everything they can to weaken if not kill unions.

So the 4 guys who still support Trump will be sorely disappointed in a few years (or sooner).

Side Point #2 - $17/hour Wage:
The ex-GE worker was right when he said you can’t support a family on $17/hour. And yet, he supports the GOP who think the minimum wage should be well below $10/hour if not abolished altogether. How can that be? Irrational…
